Overview

The King’s College allots students $10.00 in printing dollars (or 200 pages at $0.05 per page) per semester they are actively enrolled as an on-campus student. These funds can be used for print jobs and copy jobs. Upon reaching their quota, students will be denied the ability to print until they submit a cash payment at Library Services to add additional printing dollars to their student printing account.

Student Printing Account

Students may print from any computer connected to the campus network by navigating in their web browser to http://printing.tkc.edu. On the login page they should enter their TKC username (email address without @tkc.edu at the end) and email password.

In order to safeguard against lost passwords, students should register security questions at https://changemypassword.tkc.edu by choosing the “Edit My Profile” option. If a student forgets or needs to change their password, they may go to this site in their web browser when connected to the campus network and set a new password by providing their username and correctly answering the security questions they set up.

Printers Available To Students

There are two printers and one copier available to students, and are both located in the campus library. These printers only print in black and white. Using the Student Printing Portal at http://printing.tkc.edu, students may upload the document they wish to print and select the printer they would like to print their document on.

The only file types that may be uploaded are .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, and .pdf documents. If a student needs to print a webpage or other file type we provide a free PDF printer called CutePDF (http://www.cutepdf.com) which changes any type of file to a PDF.

Refunds

Refunds for print jobs will only be provided upon the following circumstances: There is an error in the actual device that causes the document to be illegible. Please note that because color printers are not provided to students any images should be optimized for grayscale printing before uploading the print job to http://printing.tkc.edu.

Refunds will not be provided: (1) if a student mistakenly chooses to print multiple copies of a document, (2) if a student uploads a different document than they intended to print, (3) or for any reason that is deemed as user error rather than a malfunction of the print setup on campus.

Upon encountering such an error, students should notify the library attendant to verify the malfunction and the librarian should submit a ticket to helpdesk@tkc.edu noting the error, the name of the student, the machine in which the error occurred, the date/time of the occurrence and any other relevant information in order to re-credit the student’s printing account. This request may take up to 24 hours and email confirmation will be sent to the student and librarian noting when the refund is given.

Adding Additional Printing Dollars

If a student decides to add additional printing dollars to their account, they should go to the library counter and submit a cash payment to the attendant. Additional printing dollars can be added in $5.00 increments (100 pages at $0.05 per page). Upon payment, the librarian will hand the student a receipt and notify IT in order to add the additional dollars to the student’s printing account. While IT will make every effort to process the request as soon as possible, please allow 24 hours in order for the additional printing dollars to be reflected on the student’s account. We encourage students to regularly check their balance at http://printing.tkc.edu in order to be proactive about their printing needs.
